This is the first comic strip in the series that establishes Steve Nichols is a hoarder. He is also apparently stronger than John and Phil, since he carries off that countertop by himself, when it took two of them to carry it; but there are no comic strips later on talking about Steve Nichols as a strongman.
I have Full size Console 240v PAL TV that I dragged back from Germany that has been in storage since my departure in ’85 so I can sorta understand the feeling. :)
The problem many of us have. Throw something out, and a few weeks later, have a need for it! Also, find something out of place and think “I’d never think to look there if I needed it”, so move it, and later have a need and be able to remember where it was – but not where you moved it! (Hooray for CDs – we can now scan tons of paper items to a CD and reduce the fire hazard.)

I hope John got a couple of bucks from Steve to let him haul it away.

Re-cycle…Re-purpose. I’m not much of a hoarder, but I do like to squirrel things away that I might use some day.

So John was going to put the junk top in his garage rather than the trash? They’re both hoarders".

I always figured that was what yard sales were all about.
You purchase something that sat in someone else’s garage for years, …. so it can sit in yours until you finally have a yard sale yourself.
