haha, THIS one comes off as funny now. I wonder if Lynn was planning on making Brian the gay one early on, then switched to Lawrence? Given Lawrence’s occasional looks at girls (if I recall correctly), it makes sense. She may have wanted to do that story arc around this time (it’s only a few years off, I think).
Kids mature at different rates. One of my brothers really liked girls starting in elementary school. (I only remember because he got into trouble for running around an kissing girls on the playground, as well as adamantly proclaiming that he was going to marry “Amy.”) The other brother didn’t start showing interest until around 8th or 9th grade. Me? I’ve always had boys who were good friends, but I really didn’t start LIKING boys until I was around 11, and I developed a huge crush on David Cassidy!
It makes sense that Carol is worried about her son. He wrote that letter from camp accusing Michael of peeping into the girls’ shower hut, whilst omitting the fact that he himself was also a participant. Oh well, that is what you get for lyin’, Brian!
You can’t win for losing here. Too early, too late, too much, too little. There are those that have little to no libido at all ever. Others are the opposite. Some have problems dealing with people too. It isn’t so simple.

If Brian isn’t interested in girls yet then that should be a good thing.

“I know he’s not interested in girls because he would never hide something like that from me. I’m his mother!”

Maybe he is precocious. He isn’t into girls, he is into women.

He’s looking for the “father” figure in his life. The home of a dominate mother and a passive father. It happens.

Starting to make sense why Elly is ill at ease with the pregnancy; she is likely worried she is going to have another Michael!
