From the appearance of those wine glasses in the third panel, it seems that the Patterson’s celebrated New Year’s a day early.

A really sweet strip. A classic. You have one day left.. make the most of it.

The Patterson parents are amazed. Their children have shown them they are fully capable of doing chores willingly and that they know how to do them, but only on New Years’ Eve. This means the other 364 days of the year, they are little stinkers.

Lynn had to make a slight alteration here. In the original run (1994/1995), January 1st fell on Sunday. Liz originally said “Since it’s the first day in a brand new year…we wanted it to be a good one!!”

even if it is only going to last for one day… :J

Once a year is still good. There is definitely room for improvement but the one day is still good…..

One good day won’t salvage this crappy year

Mike definitely looks different with that beard and mustache…and it’s nice to see him shoveling the snow without being asked. It shows he’s maturing.

Mike’s mustache in 2nd panel covered to the sides of his lips. But in later panels his ‘stache shrunk to Charlie Chaplin’s style.

Those kids are awesome…and so are mine.

May the last day of the old year be the worst of the New Year.

Still find it hard to like Mike’s ‘new’ look…

My first thought was it was Mother’s Day like in Back to B.C. But only that one and Doonesbury and Nancy Classics are off schedule.

I’m not crying, you’re crying. ;D Funny how something so sweet and simple can make you choke up. My kids do stuff like this on occasion and I am always in tears.
