Many years ago at a New York state park a park ranger told us the 3 foolproof steps to keep hungry bears out of one’s food supply: 1) put food in a sturdy cooler and lock it with some sort of pad lock; 2) put locked cooler in trunk of your car and lock your car; 3) bury your car.

No, problem, with the diseases they’ll get from the skeeters, they won’t feel like eating anyway

He should’ve gotten one of those Yeti coolers like the one in the TV commercial that the bear can’t break.

When I was growing up, we had a wooden box that my dad had built that we always called the bear box
We called it that because it was mauled by a bear on one of our first family camping trips, that’s where we kept the food
Dad must have built it well, it survived the bear with only some serious scratches

I’m surprised Peter didn’t empty the cooler first! ;)
