So she somehow knows in advance that this party is going to be so unpleasant that the mere fact of having been invited is horrifying to her . . . and she didn’t just decline the invitation? I know she said yesterday that she didn’t want to be rude, with a startling lack of self-awareness. But she’s dreading this party the way most people dread being abused or tortured or violated. I would be rude long before I would willingly submit to something that had me half so upset as this party has her.
