A Facebook meme that circulated in December 2015 implied that putting a creche on your lawn expressed willingness to shelter refugees. Only progressive Christians were amused.
Several aspects of that story don’t make sense in light of what has been learned. No one has to return to where they lived for the census, just tell the census taker where you come from is sufficient then. There is no evidence any such order for infanticide was ever given. At least it hadn’t ever been found so far that I know. But such stories aren’t about reality, they are stories to stir the blood and fire the imagination.
Oppression as a reflection of our failure to understand God’s deep love for us has been going on forever, and decreasing over time…………………………..let’s take a step further and allow the ordination of women.
