“Proper punctuation?” What’s that?The rules of punctuation are about has firmly carved in stone as the rest of the rules for English. If you are writing for a publisher, the rules are whatever the publisher says they are. If you are writing for yourself, the rules are whatever you you want them to be. Of course, you have to suffer the slings and arrows of criticism in any case.
