    @Nabuq, I used to work with a guy we nicknamed Deer Slayer for hitting deer twice. His cars were totaled both times.

    We had a 57 Desoto and then a 61 Chrysler New Yorker that both had the big tail fins.

    Had a paper route in the ’50’s delivering in the early a.m. Was not watching where I was going one time, looking down at the papers, and damned near impaled myself onto the left “fin” of a ’59 Caddy !!! That would NOT have been cool !

    Cars had style back then, and while not all of them were good style at least you could tell them apart.

    I think then more car keys were interchangeable than they are today. You’re more likely today to discover a car isn’t yours because the keys don’t fit. But yes, the main reason my father put decorative metal reverse S’s on his Ford Galaxy 500 was so that he could tell it apart from other white Galaxy 500s.
