Of if you’re like me, you get distracted by the buffets and end up being too groggy to hike.

After a couple of ‘pass through’ visits on the way to elsewhere, I think of Las Vegas as a good place to be from.

Ahhh… the Darwinian Filter.

Then again, the trails may absorb the people who might not have done so well in Vegas…

Well, it is certainly a good place to clean out one’s wallet.

Good people watching, bad place to have a conference. You truly ‘lose’ people. I can stand about one night of Vegas – Too much sensory overload after that point. Happier to be outside in nature.

Vegas is really GOOD at cleaning out your cash and your credit cards.

The epitome of greed and desperation

Vegas = Cloaca. Look that up in your Funk and Wagnal.

Red Rocks, Valley of Fire, Mt. Charleston, and probably more we haven’t found yet.

There’s some pretty good skiing in the mountains around Vegas. I know…surprised me, too!

Oooh! Oooh! Has anyone made the “clean out your wallet” and “Lost Wages” jokes yet?

Enough with the stereotypes! We are just like you folks in ……(name your city and state)!!!

MY question is, "How does his uncle know all that much about the “evils” of Las Vegas unless he been there and partaken, thereof?" Sounds like sour grapes from a ‘loser’ to me.

And, yes, I, too have been there. For two glorious weeks (a conference) where I was privileged to see Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Joey Bishop – almost the entire “Rat Pack”! I’ve never been back – didn’t think I’d EVER be able to match THAT visit!

(Oh, and I’ve heard that the buffets aren’t nearly as cheap or good, anymore, either. And living in New Mexico as I do, I’ve got about a dozen casinos that are comfortable drives if I feel like “flushing” money down the commode – and, at least there, I’m helping the local Amerinds a bit!)

It occurs to me that I may have flown into the Las Vegas airport as much as any other airport in the country, not counting airports I’m simply transferring through, or of course flying home to. Maybe I’ve flown into LaGuardia more, maybe San Francisco, maybe Boston. But Las Vegas is right up there. And while I’ve spent some money in the city, mostly on food and roller coasters, I haven’t gambled a dime. Mostly I drop in and go someplace else.

Which probably makes the hard-core gamblers as grateful for the filter effect as Frazz is.

Been there several times, the buffets are the best, the entertainment good, rooms are cheap, I play the craps tables, set my limit, best odds, win some lose some.
