There is one world-wide religious organization that doesn’t solicit donations, doesn’t require tithing and is totally financially transparent. All donations are used to promote the “good news of God’s kingdom.”

Anyone else remember Robert Tilton? He was my favorite.

Would that be Jim Bakker, or. Falwell, or …. pick a name

My favorite, don’t remember his name, was one back in the ’70s. At least he was honest and told his followers that lack of money was the root of all evil so keep sending it to him.

My parish raised heck when someone gave our dedicated priest a Mercedes years ago.

My wife’s grandmother bought her way into heaven by giving the “family fortune” to a TV evangelist. We all know she went the other direction.

Mismanagement of donations…more common than we know

The preacher takes the collection and tosses it into the air. God takes what he needs and any money that hits the ground is the preacher’s.

There are many people of the cloth that do not live a life of luxury, quite the opposite in fact. Unfortunately there are way too many con artists, the proverbial wolves in sheep’s clothing. I knew a Catholic priest who willed over a million dollars to his housekeeper’s son back in the 70s. Yes, the boy was his son. The minister of a Presbyterian church I had gone to back in the 80s had the biggest diamond ring I had seen at the time, it was 3 carats. I never trusted his seemons.

And another reason why we are atheist.

Oh come on. Everybody knows those good folks would never use those funds to enrich themselves. Every penny goes to help the less fortunate.

Omg, isn’t that the awful truth.

I’d never trust a church if the pastor has a huge house, a high end car, or travels by private jet.
