    Modern artists that were successful were very charismatic people that managed to land a wealthy sponsor who promoted them. Their art just isn’t that great.

    Some years ago, a daughter of Joan Miró was in a museum and informed the management (somehow) that a painting by her father—a large and busy one, too—was hung upside down. The curators scoffed, but an inspection of writing on the back of the cavas revealed that she was quite right. Impressive. Given what a typical mature Miró looks like.
