Of all the put downs ever uttered, that one is the one that hurts the most.
Re: The blog: amazing video of Bruce Lee ping pong. I am just amazed that he could direct the ball so accurately. It was almost as if he were in a trance while playing.
Re: Vlad: Yahoo! I got my notice! I;ve been invited!! I can’t wait!
I want to believe that Bruce Lee could play ping pong like that with nunchucks, but… no. It’s an ad from a cellular phone company. Lee died in 1973. The company never says if it’s real or not. If this were real, I suspect it would’ve surfaced before being used in a cell phone commercial.
Reminds me of this commercial… not a coincidence that both were in 2008, when viral manipulated videos were the rage:
I have to agree with Nairebis; I played a lot of ping pong a lot of years ago and the video is a stretch, if not a bridge, too far. Fun to watch though!
I’m wondering what that kitten’s looking at?
Thanks, T. for the frogapplausex invite. Tomorrow’ll be like Christmas, I’m thinking.
I have to agree with Nairebis - it’s been done before. Remember the manipulated ping pong in “Forest Gump”? In this Nokia commercial, it’s noticeable that the ball seems, at times, to change direction towards the nunchucks.
That said, the “lady” ( having misspent a good portion of my youth in San Francisco, I can guarantee that looks are NO certification of actual gender) needs to define “better man”.
Thanks Vlad, and Teresa. I just found my invitation. For some reason it was in my junk e mails. I was beginning to think I missed out. Looking forward to tomorrow.
Also, since FA Sunday is members only, will we eventually be able to comment on the posts? It would be nice to not always have to come back here to comment.
Well, yesterday when Teresa posted on FB that there was one invitation left, I figured I would “join the club”, but I guess I’m shut out. There was no invitation waiting this morning. Now I’m wondering, just who are these 100 people? I notice there are only about 15-20 regulars that comment here and the Blog really is fed by the comic strip. Now I’m wondering if people are using multiple e-mail addresses to gather up invitations to Sunday FA to make the club even more exclusive. These so-called 100 invitees better come out of the woodwork and comment and stop hiding under their rock.

What!!!??? No Christmas!!! Huh! Well, two can play at that game. Be prepared for a lomcevak over Burning Man. Vlad will grunt and groan…and you might want to have your barf bag closely at hand. :-)
Hugh B., do not despair, for I fear I shall soon be one of the dis-invited. Not realizing that the invitation might be in my spam box, I have deleted all that have come my way. I now believe that, not once, but twice I have tossed away said invitation and so shall incur the wrath of Vlad. So, baring a reprieve from the grim one, you may find an opportunity opening up. I lament my deed and have rent mine garments in despair and am willing to offer my firstborn to Teresa (though his wife and children may object) for another chance. So, oh Vlad the Terrible, Vlad the Mirthless, Vlad, so grim of mien, heed my supplication and remove me not from the list of the chosen ones.
P.S. As I remember, that picture of Steve McQueen is from the movie “Never So Few”, with Frank Sinatra and Gina Lollobrigida. I’ll have to watch it again to be certain…
I think what we saw on Sunday FAx is evidence of the typical financial struggles of a starving young artist. Teresa is so tapped out she can only afford a single entendre.

That Bruce Lee video is incredible. That is actually the first time I’ve seen nunchucks used in a constructive manner.
Devil’s pizza? Or is that how Domino’s lets him know the pizza is ready for pickup? Does the delivery boy expect a tip?
So now I can never see Homer again.

The rubber waffle looks very realistic. Even the melted butter looks authentic.

Even if I could beat Bruce Lee at Ping Pong, I would let him win.
(I wouldn’t take the chance that he might be a poor loser.)
