Rodents infected with T. Gondii show reduced fear and are actually attracted to the smell of cats. I’ve wondered whether the cats that play with the mice before killing them might also be slaves to the parasite since the uninfected ones are more likely to escape… and then there’s the question of whether the high rates of infection (in some parts of the world, over 75%) among humans are the result or the cause of keeping cats as pets… Who is really in charge here, humans, cats, rats or some minor parasite?
