Our cat, Alexandra, loved to play a modified version of “Fetch”. Someone had to be at the top of the stairs with a little plastic ball with a bell in it. That person had to toss it down the stairs, and Alex would go running after it. If the ball stopped on a stair, she would knock it the rest of the way until it hit the bottom. Once it hit the bottom, she would pick it up, run up the stairs, and give it to the person at the top…ready to go again.
I play ping-pong-ball soccer with my 14-yr-old kitty. She’s always the goalie. Sometimes we can actually get a pretty good game going, but only when she’s in the mood.

Jon, try a ball of yarn.

If you wanted the stick back, you shouldn’t have thrown it away.
Our cats have brought back things that we didn’t throw away, and didn’t want. Birds, mice, garter snakes…

Try tossing some food instead, Jon. But don’t expect it to come back!
