Lunatic – The word stems from the Latin “luna” meaning moon, with the “atic” suffix meaning “of the kind of”…. p.s. Wolves also howl at the moon and they ain`t dogs.
Middle of Summer… sleeping out in the yard because the house is too hot… the desert winds have died down so the sand isn’t blistering… off in the distance I could hear howling. And I wondered… was it the guy who lived under the bridge, the tin-foil-hat who stood on the on-ramps to ask for change, or the guy who camped out in the local park and slept under the kiddie slide. ;)
For those who do not understand the joke I will explain it.
Today’s comic takes place in a room with a light green wall, and a light blue counter.
The first panel shows Garfield reading a paper, and Garfield reads the paper outloud to Odie “Dear ask a dog, I am not a dog, but i enjoy howling at the moon. How do you explain this?”. Odie responds “Bark! Bark!”. Garfield knows that Odie does not speaking english, so he translates what Odie had said. What Odie said translate to “You’re nuts.”.
That’s the setup for the comic, not the joke. I’ll now explain the joke. The joke in this comic is that the person who wrote to ask a dog howls at the moon, and this is not normal human behavior. So Odie responds “You’re nuts.”. This, this is hilarious. Clearly Jim Davis had thought of this comic for days. This comic is just another example of how hilarious Jim Davis can be. I didn’t know that after 42 whole years, Jim Davis could make me bawl laughing, but he’s just that funny I guess.

Ever heard of Wolves, Coyotes, and Jackals? Sure, they are in the dog family, but they are wild dogs.

If you drink enough Tequila, you could easily find yourself howling at the moon. A moonlight sonata seemed to work for Beethoven.

Other than Kimmy, who else would think that he/she is a dog or a wolf and howl at the moon?
