Don’t scoff. Separation anxiety is real. I once had a German Shephard eat my couch ( AKA sofa, divan, Davenport). Later on, I had a dog attempt to eat the refrigerator cord. For some reason, he stopped halfway through. No, the lesson wasn’t retained by the dog.

That’s true horror for a dog, being left alone for a minute, let alone several hours.
