A whole bunch of guys have done it in a game; Kerry Wood, Justin Verlander, Joel Zumaya, Brad Lidge, Jonathan Papelbon, Randy Johnson, Tim Lincecum, JR Richard … there are a few dozen of them.
I was working at a baseball card shop and a very old man began talking about the great old players. “Who was that guy who pitched consecutive No-Hitters?”
This has been the best thread on any comic strip I’ve ever read on this page. Not one of you figured out a way to blame President Obama or the Republicans for anything. Well, done.

“Johnny Vander Meer,” I replied.
“No, no, that’s not it,” he insisted.

Perhaps they’re referring to John Rocker?

Rocker was a good pitcher, made a bad comment, then l.w. jones twisted the knife in his back. I have had NO respect for jones since.

tcambeul - I certainly agree with you about Jones. He was a loud mouthed bigot.
And I think the record for the fast ball is Nolan Ryan at 100.2 mph.

Two no-hitters in a row, that’s something. Thanks for sharing Axe!

“ol’ pitcher that threw 100mph”?
I’d go with Walter “Big Train” Johnson, or Bob “Rapid Robert” Feller.
By Skeezix and Corky standards, pitchers for the *Milwaukee Braves don’t qualify as “old”, much less after they moved to Atlanta.

Actually they are of an era that could also include the Boston Braves
