Since when does 911 send you to a separate department for “police, ambulance or fire”? Don’t they usually just ask the nature of the emergency and then dispatch what is needed based on that information?
Not a very funny strip today. Shame on you Jim having Slim calling emergency dispatchers who save lives nincompoops! This is perhaps the worst strip I’ve seen in all the 100 years.
When I lived in South Bend, a neighbors tree caught fire. I think it was windy and the branches were brushing against the power lines. We’d seen the fire before the transformer blew. First the power kind of browned out then all of it on our side of the block went black.
And another thought: A reason I stopped reading this strip a few years ago (in addition to giving Lucky the Cat the heave-ho for that abomination, Giacomo the Dog) is that Slim is always portrayed as useless, and usually, he’s useless because he’s fat!
Reinforcement of too many negative stereotypes, especially about fat people!

They’re asking which apartment the tree is in?

Odd. It is not like Scancarelli not to do a special Memorial Day strip on Sunday, remembering those who lost their lives defending our country.

You kidding? He hasn’t submitted a new strip in over a half year.

MJ – I guess that’s why Walt didn’t make it to the Old Comics Home, after all!
