This could just as easily be the onset of a new arc to bring a reality check to Walt’s circumstances. I for one am glad that he is still with us. But I have witnessed this type of reasoning in many others at this stage of life, and sadly, it’s a signal of the beginning of the end.
While I am glad this is a new arc and not a rerun….. it strikes me as quite odd that Walt is so inflamed about toothpaste/toothbrushes…. and is seeing a “conspiracy theory” in them. This does not seem to be a part of Walt’s personality from the past that I recall. Or, am I forgetting something?
Even though this is nice…. and it is VERY nice that it is new and current (not a rerun)…. I do hope that Mr. Scancarelli will soon grace us with another arc featuring Joel. Perhaps even one where Rufus is not present…. just Joel!
I don’t think Walt is losing it, I think he is acting as a consumer advocate. It is true commercials train us to use more of a quantity than needed. Toothpaste is ground zero for him.

I wonder if this arc is subtle commentary on the syndicate, and why the strip was in reruns for six months. ✨
