I feel that Mr. Big Stuff is going to get his comeuppance. Getting comeuppance seems to be the favorite underlying plot device to wrap up a storyline – reference Ransom, Wildcat, School Board dude, and so on.
Like Milford could ever win anything these days. They decided to draw this out for a week instead of just telling us that they made the playoffs in one panel. It’s not happening this season or any other season.
At least they beat Goshen, so Milford baseball doesn’t totally suck.
Warning track power. Rod, could you draw Coach Tod Andrews in shaking Gil’s hand after the game? He was loyal to MHS and Thorp during the formative years.
I hope Marty interviews Dinny after the game. “I did it all for my little buddy, Jaxon, who’s at home listening on the wireless.” And that’s when Darby melts and figures out who the good guy really is.
Yep, it will be caught, no playoffs again for the baseball team. And yes, Coach Kaz, unless my memory is faulty the playdowns are only for basketball. I think, I don’t remember the baseball team ever going past the regular season.
On second look. since the outfielder is now 2 feet from the fence and in a full sprint he is about to either do a Kool-Aid man crash through the fence or kill himself.
Sorry Mop Man, but I went back and looked, and found that we Milford folks do call them the Playdowns. Here is an example of a Paul Strange quote. Comic has a nice Marty Dejong reference as well: http://www.gocomics.com/gilthorp/2002/05/16

…..And it’s caught. Season over Milford. That was a quick end to yesterday’s surprise continuance of the boy’s baseball season.

Black uniforms? I predict just as the kid is about to haul in the ball he drops dead from heat stroke.

I bet that left fielder runs like a gazelle.

Milford will win the game, but then the season will just mysteriously end the way basketball did with no mention of playdowns.
