KDIZZLE, I think he realizes he sucks at this and needs to learn the sport, etc. I once took part in a media vs. The Bourbons softball game MANY years ago and the media guys looked like they had never played, other than me. Interesting those clumsy guys got into reporting sports, of all things.
Oh, now I get it. The only students watching the Pirate show were the anti-Mooners. With Marty suspended, their audience has disappeared (though, how they know that while broadcasting is a Thorpian mystery). Marty’s listeners weren’t switching over. They weren’t listening to his dulcet tones because of the delinquents. The station manager makes Marty take an unpaid vacation for a couple of weeks saving enough money to buy one of those new quadraphonic stereo sets for his wife and Pedro gets a new pool skimmer for the upcoming season as Gil waxes poetic about something or other. The End.
Marti as a character is much more established and compellinging.Time for R&W to have the Pirate and family transferred to either Central City or Pleasantville!
