I went on my account online, checked that the numbers input by the equivalent of the IRS were right (salary, any other income, number of dependants, marital state). Clicked OK. Logged off.
Our paper ones are four pages long. Of course, for independant workers it is way more work, I believe it is six or eight pages.
Saw an American tax return once, left the room screaming in terror.

I started using the IRS Free File years ago, and find it the easiest way to file. The online software prompts you for all information and does all the math for you. Since I get refunds every year (withholding is fixed by law) I never have to mail anything, direct deposit gets my refund fast.
