Heck, when I was Michael’s age there weren’t any TVs but there were books.

Don’t forget that the 4th channel was UHF, and it was hard to watch through the snow on the screen.

One of my mother’s aunts died and left her some cash. We had the first TV in the neighborhood. IIRC there were three channels.

I think the few channels we had used to sign off at midnight. Snow the rest of the night.

We got our first TV when I was about Michael’s age, but even in NY city metro area there was not a lot to watch. I read the Bobbsy Twins, Nancy Drew, Judy Bolton, Cherry Ames, and several other series. We were given a set of the Hardy boys for my brother, he wasn’t a ready I read them all.

In my house growing up, the cure for boredom was chores. We never said we were bored.
