Even I know how to lift the cover to get to the battery. I helped my engineering neighbor who was very confused by the covers. Apparently not an automotive engineer.
1. keep your owner’s manual in the car so you have directions 2. most new cars have dedicated terminals for jump starting that are connected to the battery and under their own covers

There are so many electronic controllers/micro-computers on todays cars that jump-starting can be very expensive.
