Normally, the land is on the “port” side of a docked ship. That’s why they adopted that name (after “larboard” went out of fashion).

He sent him to the crow’s nest. He didn’t tell him it was time to come down.

Red Right Returning, and the left is called Port because ships were moored on the left.

He can climb down now. That was information the captain didn’t need nor want.

Ruby or tawny?

I have ruby stud earrings, and emerald stud earrings. Sometimes, I wear the emerald in my right ear and ruby in my left. If anyone asks why, I say “running lights.”

He seems very stern.

Especially since the land would be on the port side.

I can’t keep port and starboard straight…
