If she was using twin lead on that rabbit ear antenna, I’ve often found that placing a small piece of tin foil around it (cable) and sliding itone way or the other sometimes helps to clear up the signal.. Works best if you cross your fingers too. Just and old timers solution.
Didn’t watch over-the-air broadcasts for over twenty years and then became a cord cutter four years ago. Back to a roof antenna (and streaming services!).
I remember the 60’s with our T.V. in the basement with my Dad outside with the antenna adjusting it, Mom in the basement providing feedback and me in the middle running the stairs with the messages on how clear or fuzzy the picture was.
Dad lived out in the country, we tried to get him a satellite dish, but he said he was doing fine with the two local stations he got with his roof antenna. “If I don’t like what’s on one, I switch to the other, and if I don’t like that, I turn it off and read a book”

If he’s watching cable, then he doesn’t need an antenna.

Reminds me of the time the antenna engineer got married. The wedding was ok, but the reception was great.

Call the cable company? Finally giving in? No worries, they’ll be out between 9 AM and 5 PM in 3 months…

Ain’t gonna work. BTW we once lived in a house where the only reception was by rabbit ears. We got stations from three different cities with ours.
