    At least they don’t have that NFL rule where the team that loses the OT coin flip never gets to touch the ball.

    The reason justice is always depicted as blindfolded is that the appearance of the plaintiff and dependent is supposed to have no influence on the decision, which is supposed to be based solely on the facts of the case and the law. We’ve seen this play out in real life when orchestras went to holding blind auditions, in which aspirants performed behind a screen, where the judges could hear them but not see them. Even tho the judges had always professed — and I’m sure were quite sincere about it — that they were basing their decisions strictly on the quality of the audition performance, it was kind of amazing how many more women and people of color got top rankings after the screens went up.
