Same thing with Calvin & Hobbes’ Moe bully. Moe wanted to take Calvin’s truck and when Calvin gave it up to him, Moe worried he was being set up…. and ran.
I wonder why Robb Armstrong decided to show the trio as shadows, not “real”. (One possibility: at one point the bullies seemed to have been reformed; perhaps their shadows decided to keep being nasty without them!)
