I’m a licensed vet tech; when I accepted a job at MSU, friends asked if I was going to go back to school to be a veterinarian; I said no, I’m going to teach future veterinarians!
“Doctor” Appleby fails on so many levels. 1) No degree. Please… 2) Doctors worth anything know they may be good at what they do but they’re only as good as the staff around them and the staff around them makes them better than they are. 3) “Doctor” Appleby should understand or be made to understand that if a true medical emergency were to occur it would be the EMT/EMS personnel taking over as soon as they got there unless a more senior medical person was there. 4) Parents grooming their child for something by naming them something are dumb. There’s a lot of curves between birth and entering a field. Hopefully “Doctor” Appleby is here to show how stupid that is.
Without competent nurses, hospitals and other healthcare organizations might as well shut down. Doctors and nurses (and other ancillary medical personnel) have different roles, training and skill sets. I relied on nurses to be my eyes and ears and provide constant patient care. They relied on me to perform duties beyond their scope of practice, and to help manage acute problems. It should be a true collaboration.
I’ve seen egotistical doctors and, to a much lesser extent, nurses. That never ends well.
Jojo may be right about his mom but that doesn’t make him more knowledgeable than Dr. Appleby in first aid.. anymore than the child whose claim that all found pennies are hers because her aunt collects them
Marcy was breaking her back BEFORE the millionaire friend founded the health canter—-now she’s got administrative duties on top of that.If breathing wasn’t automatic she’d be in big trouble
True story: Many years ago, I interviewed for a position with a medical publisher. In that my husband already worked for a diffeerent medical publisher, I thought I knew what to expect.THe HR director told me what I already knew—that the firm published books for“Professionals in the life sciences”.“So” I said, innocently, “textbooks for physicians and nurses”.His face visibly reddened, “NO. Professionals. Nurses are NOT PROFESSIONALS.We do not publish nursing books”.I knew he was wrong, but I needed the job, and I got it. I lasted five years.Shortly after my departture, the business was sold. To a nursing publisher.

Many times you get better info and care from a nurse than the doctor. Hurray for nurses.

Dr. Appleby would like to adjourn this meeting to Applebee’s.

Like the T-shirt says; “Would you rather talk to the doctor in charge, or the nurse who knows what’s going on?”

This strip was always ahead of the curb. It’s much better black representation than I’ve seen in recent years.

And you’re a “doctor” because your parents named you that Mr. Appleby.
