My version of freewriting usually occurs when my characters are just standing around, waiting for me to write. I start writing outside my style and way outside the established story. They get ticked off at what I’m having them do, so they stark talking to me, I delete what I wrote, and we all continue the story. I have over 20 published works, so it works for me.
