When I was at the comic shop every week, a twenty would about cover my habit. Comics were a buck seventy five then, too.
And with the high prices and small target audience, it’s no wonder the Gay Superman DC comic was canceled after just 18 issues.

I gave up buying comic books back in the mid or late 90s. The price escalation, and special issues with multiple covers, etc., killed my desire to collect. But I still read a few, thanks to certain sites on the internet.
