I like this page because it’s personal and shows how insecure the author is… Also, because show that even one of the greatest comic authors genius in history can make mistakes and not follow his advice is the best thing to do.
I like Crumb too, but he is somewhat of a pervert, and that’s putting it diplomatically. Many of your strips show women suffering insecurities; perhaps that’s personal. But, the ones I’ve always liked best are those that show the protagonists overcoming those feelings and prevailing. BTW, I think Carol Lay is the hands-down best storyteller of cartoonists.
your memory is good enough to remember what you saw in 2003? What about the people who never saw them in the original format? I don’t know about you, I re-read books, watch movies, listen to music I like on a regular basis.
& if one had started with positive comics and then transitioned to low self-esteem comics, one would be getting feedback from folks pining for the older, positive stuff.
There are always critics, no matter what one does. But there are also fans to be found, no matter what one does. So it’s best to do what you like, to please the audience of you.

Don’t “draw what you know.” “Draw what everyone else knows they want you to draw.”
Always follow the money.

I have always enjoyed Crumb but Carol Lay is brilliant too; I’m glad she has her own voice.

I’ve just found this artist and am enjoying her comic strip. Don’t let the a**holes get you down. They’re jerks.

Well, personally, I loathe Crumb. He give sexual perversion a bad name.

He likes her submissive nature!

Excellent Crumb parodies. Carol Lay is a genius in her own right.

Like your stuff, but I’m dropping strips that do too many reruns. Like from 2003.

I guess she has 30+ years of material to draw on. I recall the Way Lay stuff.

When a genius cartoonist says you have a nice big ass, and he’d like to put his fist in your mouth, is that a compliment?
I’m going to go with “no.”
R. Crumb really is a brilliant cartoonist. Some of his work is quite disturbing, though.

I’m happy to live in a world that has different kinds of artists, and that they are all doing their own thing.
Michelangelo and Banksy both panted on walls.

I thought your self image was the lady at the desk.
At least, that’s my image of you.
