It’s NOT just “robots” – people tend to forget the words of the former head of the Strategic Air Command, General Curtis LeMay…
“In the event of a Russian nuclear attack on the U.S.A., the FIRST step would be to finish “destroying” our population centers so there would be no “survivors” complicating our retaliatory efforts …"
I’m paraphrasing here as the general was a rather profane individual…
..and yes, Curt WAS “drunk” at the time he said those words – but not necessarily delusional…
Everyone should look up and read the SF short story “With Folded Hands” and see how our society might be doomed by robots (or politicians) without any apparent danger. They’ll just take good care of us. Very thorough, very careful care.

Funny that humans (well at least a lot of them) call god their creator, yet they don’t want to destroy their creator.
Yet Robots are portrayed as wanting to destroy their creator!

Design all robots so a bit of electronics is exposed. They try something. We lock and load our supersoakers and put the rebelllion down.

“With Folded Hands” by Jack Williamson describes a very different robot apocalypse.

The robots won’t kill us all. Organic parts will still have some uses.

It’s only a problem if we’re stupid enough to not program them to not kill us. A good possibility.
