The imagination of Winsor McCay staggers me.
With respect to originality, McKay brings to my mind the work of George Herriman and his deep involvement with the Krazy Kat strips.
Another Artist that comes to mind is Foxo Reardon, creator of the nonverbal BOZO strip, available and enjoyable on this site.
Foxo’s work is based on the “silent film” medium and he creates nonverbal strips with very clever ideas and superb draughtsmanship.
