Unfortunately, in today’s world, it is almost impossible to make a donation to a worthy cause without getting on THE LIST. I sent a small donation to a local humane society; a written request not to be added to the donor mailing list was ignored and apologized for four times over two years before the mailings stopped.
Years ago, my niece and I decided that, in lieu of Christmas presents, we would each donate to charities of our own choosing. My sister and I do that in lieu of birthday presents. This year, our local food bank is going to get a donation from me.
