I only have one voice device in the house, the google on the TV remote. You have to push a button to activate it. On our Android phones, Google is turned off, on our Amazon Tablets, Alexa is turned off, as far as I know, there are no Apple devices in there, unless one of the kids has an ipod or something. My wife doesn’t trust them. “They’re LISTENING to me!” (She’s probably right.)
I’m sure everyone that says Alexa hears and responds to what it hears are items of interest could be correct, but I have one I use all the time and have no problem with Amazon sending me unwanted emails regarding products I may have mentioned.
I don’t know why I wouldn’t have any problems and others do, unless it’s because I live alone. The only thing it could over-hear would be phone conversations.
She needs to upgrade her manually operated, digitally controlled cybernetic attitude adjustment device. (She needs to get a BIGGER hammer to hold over the electronic insurgent.)

True story: A girl asked Alexa to give her a challenge and was told to put a screwdriver in a wall plug. Amazon apologized. The girl didn’t do it.

I have Alexa; however, I really do not like her. Rather listen to the radio or a record or compact disc.

Alexa: The Piehole is the name of the bakery in “Pushing Daisies”.

Pieholes are a result of crossing pies with donuts.
