What would have been a bit creepy, would have been a painting of the back side of someone’s head. You know, those paintings of people with the spots for the eyes cut out so you can peek into the next room with no one noticing.
I remember seeing an actual double-sided painting in a museum – displayed on a temporary wall with a cutout so one could see the “back” side. Might have been by Diego Rivera, although I can’t confirm that by quick internet search.
