I’ve seen kids somewhat like that. One explained he stayed at our home so much because the power was off, the water was off, the gas was off.

His mother got enough money in child support to pay her bills but spent it on other things. He stayed with us much of the time because of that. He was a pretty good cook and cleaned around. We never asked him but he did. He also loved mowing our yard.

Last time we heard from him he was a security guard somewhere in Texas. (He would call us on holidays because we had working phones.)

And when Brad tells this to Frank, what will change?

So he’s stealing food to feed his mother. That puts a different spin on things. Actually wasn’t T.J.’s story retconned later? Does anybody remember what he told Nancy about himself in a later era of the strip? I think it was different although he still considered them surrogate parents. I also thought he came into an inheritance from some family member.
