Transcript:
Mrs. Berger: "Here're my boys! How were your days?"
Quill :"Better now!"
Truck: "HONK!"
Mrs. Berger: "Goodness! What's that ?"
Quill: "My job"
Gunther: "Pretty handy when your job comes and picks you up"
“Brought to you” by…Kahn’s Arisan Bread Crafters…. A Kahn’s artist is dedicated to quality products… At Kahn’s, we do what it takes to make the bread rise!".. – Tollbooth Cookies…. “Helping you get past your hunger- for a price…” – And by…TJ’s Café…. “Don’t worry about convenient locations…. We’ll find you !”…
Greg doesn’t seem to be in any rush to resolve the issue of where TJ, Brad, or Toni will live, once Brad and Toni get married. He keeps hinting they’ll end up adopting Shannon, so they need to get hitched soon if they want the adoption to happen anytime soon.
‘A phrase never before uttered by a native and well-formed speaker of the English language: ’how were your days?’."
Well, “How was your day?” would not be correct, because each had their own individual day, and one could have had a good day and the other not so good. Substitute any other plural noun and the phrase works.
So, who’s taking action on what this arc’s going to entail? Unless it’s about Q’s USCIS status being put in jeopardy by his working for TJ (and, thus, Lu’s access to Q), I’m not sure. I can’t think it would be about TJ trying to scam Q for some reason. Also, I haven’t seen him enroll in school yet, so I don’t know what’s up with that, yet.
Anyway, I’ll be “in transit” for a few days so I’ll catch up with you then, maybe by Wednesday.
Seismic-2. Just a little nitpick, but it might show that you are not up to date: INS no longer exists, it’s now the USCIS. The INS ceased to exist in March 2003, when its functions were transfered to three new departments: USCIS for immigration and naturalization, the USICE for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and USCPB for Customs and Border Protection.
Nothing like fresh-baked, still-warm cookies after a hard day at school for the boys—Quill especially seems appreciative of Mrs. Berger’s thoughtfulness. And how cushy, to have your workplace come to you! No commuter issues (for the employee; the mobile workplace may, on the other hand, have all sorts of traffic woes).
Work permits are offered to F-1 visa holders for on-campus employment and for Optional Practical Training (OPT). The OPT must be related to your course of study (principally science, engineering, and other technical fields). As a high-school student, neither one of these work permit criteria apply to Quill.
I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner! TJ usually has a mug on his face with a sort of wide grin…. War has a song called: “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”…. the design on the cover also has one of those “C’mon! You can trust me!” kind of looks, like here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5b/War-WhyCan%27tWeBeFriends.jpg
The issue here is not so much concern about the impact of Quill’s job on the US economy as that Quill, who is being portrayed as a great guy whom Luann should love and we readers should admire, is in fact violating the law. Does Greg Evans not know this, or simply not care about it, or actually want to let Quill be a bit of a “bad boy”? (Working with TJ is certainly a huge step in that direction!)
As big as that thing is, it seems more like just a large window (I use the height of the Bergers who ae standing “nearer to us” in the last panel as reference, although where Quill is, does seem to make it look more like a door… but given that his legs aren’t being shown, I’d say that it was just a very large window)…. Of course, though, I’m sure Greg isn’t really keeping records about the designs of everyone’s houses from then till now, though…. – In addition, where we just moved to, our bedroom window is pretty big like that, where it’s wide, and only about two feet up from the floor, goes up pretty far, up to only about a foot or so from the ceiling…
> Evans’ reality is whatever he makes it to be.>True. In the Luannverse, it’s OK to raise children to bite people, at least so long as they are “bad people”. Mr. Evans certainly has the right to promote that approach to child-rearing (which would be totally illegal, to say nothing of immoral, in the real world), but I just don’t think we should all stand up and cheer when he does do.
Ah yes, did Quill get a work permit ? Did TJ bother to get any permits at all ? Will Ann Eiffel rat ’em out and get ’em busted ? Will Tiffany play the “Daddy” card, bail ’em out and put Quill in her debt ? Stay tuned.
It is no longer called a “Fast Food Restaurant,” but a QSR or “Quick Service Restaurant.” We must be politically correct. ^And dodgeball is no longer played, and recess has almost all but been eliminated, along with music programs at school, and physical ecucation, and “having to hand out awards” for everyone and everything, just in case anyone’s feelings get a bit hurt… -We must realize where to draw the line between giving respect and tolerance, (which is what we really should be seeking) and the uncomfortable, superficially expected phenomenon that has become the catch-all “buzz word”, “Politically Correct”.
On the other hand, if you’re so fragile that reading even one comment that you disagree with ruins your good time, you should seek some kind of professional help.

And toss TJ in the pen, for hiring an illegal.

So, if he ever gets a ticket, then he can call it ‘fast food’! ….
LinTX about 11 years ago
So how about this for a slogan, since TJ was still looking for one? “Proud food, from a humble truck.”

Appropriate for reacting with annoyance at unappreciative customers, too… – “…They’re all wasted!….”

Look like TJ’s van is Brown again. Had a mood ring that would change color, maybe TJ’s Cafe changes color with the menu.

Wow someone must have notice the comments back on Oct 7th about the color of the van and changed it to match the previous drawings.
