It’s my theory that we’re not seeing the same universe in each strip. Each strip shows a universe that is imperceptibly different from the previous, like frames from a walk from Amber. Over time, the differences are perceptible and seem like continuity errors. The times are imperceptibly different, too, explaining why characters or histories don’t seem to age.
