Three sips? Hardly worth setting up the drilling rig.

I actually worked with a Russian engineer who really located water pipes buried in the soil with rods like these. He was always right on and he tried showing me how to do it but I never really got it.

Bottom line: they DO work, but on metal pipes…

Dowsing rods always “work” in anecdotes but for some reason fail abysmally in controlled experiments in which, for example, the dowser is asked to find which of 6 identical-appearing barrels actually has the water in it. Oh, yeah, they do succeed some of the time. About 1/6 of the time, in fact. Which any idiot could do just by guessing.

These days you don’t have to have dowsing rods to find a bottle of Dasani, it’s on aisle 6. Da?

My dad could dowse. He tried to teach me, but I couldn’t get a reaction from a puddle.

Take a metal coat hanger, cut it & form an “L”, do that with another. Go out in your yard & walk around, see what happens.

I know someone who can dowse. He has done it for people and they have found the water where he indicated and how deep it would be. I understand he was off by a few feet only one time. I was with him a couple of time and witnessed him dowsing. Oh, and by the way, people can also “witch” for graves.

Well it’s pretty acurate if it can find a bottle with 3 sips in it.

Dowsing doesn’t work in controlled settings ever. Look up ideomotor effect for an explanation.

I’m glad that Monty sprang the extra loot for the Acme Deluxe Dowsing Rod Set, ‘cause I wouldn’t want the neighbors to see him dowsing with cheap, no-name rods. They might get the wrong idea about our Monty….
