A Deluxe Bungee Safety Harness! I saw that on TV!

And don’t forget to wear gloves. All it takes is a touch on the razor-sharp grid on the unit’s back to turn your fingertips into hamburger.

They made millions of those and yet, not one had a handle to hold while closing the window.

There was one style that had better balance. More of the weight inside. And who really cares? Wonder why I’m grumpy? Kids today! Harumph!

I have 4 of them. Anybody want one? I had a better system installed.

Never trust one safety line, especially one that stretches.

I’m glad we got ours in a few days before the Pacific Northwest heatwave this year (113F/44C). Our houses aren’t built for heat, and even the bedroom windows open sideways rather than the up/down they’re designed for, but we rigged it up with plywood and tape. It might well have been a literal lifesaver!

Untidily Stained Mail…

I didn’t know anyone took their window unit out at all. Every one I’ve ever seen stayed in once it was in.

Missed him by that [ ] much.

Kramer needed the bungee safety harness when putting Jerry’s in the window on Seinfeld.

They now make one that sits over the window sill, with the inside part below the window, and the cooling part below the window on the outside too. Sort of upside down U shaped unit. Seems easier to install. We have Central A/C here in Florida so window units are rare here – even here in a 48 year old house, which was built with central air conditioning all those years ago.

That bungee safety harness looks like plain old rope to me.

Pilsner is such a Drama Queen! The postman survived, didn’t he? —Or course, he may be in need of clean underwear….
