My father was a TV repairman. One guy called him to the house to “adjust the lights.” He complained that on some shows, the people in the back were in a dark part of the set, and he wanted to turn up the lights in the back. And of course the sets with all the tubes in the wrong sockets, owned by people who “hadn’t messed with anything inside.” He often had to take the set back to the shop. He believed in the law that the more floors up the person lived, the bigger the set they owned.
Compared to the garbage that is passed off as entertainment these days, early TV was actually high quality with the likes of Twilight Zone, Gunsmoke and The Honeymooners among many others. While there were duds such as Gilligan’s Island, they were the exceptions.

Notice the Spanish printing on the repairman’s case.
As for Jeff’s problem, there’s one good remedy: Read a book.

I think that’s true in any era. Some good ones and many not so good…

Would that a repairman could fix that.
