Odd that it wasnāt Gautama that occurred to Karma. And as I see it, whensoever anyone is moved by the teachings or example of Yeshua bar Yosef to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, bring justice to the oppressed, enlighten the ignorant, reconcile the quarreling, forgive the āunforgiveableā, then He is risen; His spirit has found a new earthly home.
I realize that this particular strip poses a bit of a risk to my more sensitive readers, and I by no means wish to offend anyone in any way. As "prrdh " dutifully and cleverly pointed out, Gautama may have been a more logical direction in which Karma focused her attentions, she being Buddhist (although Japanese). But the world in which my characters abide is a world where all beings respect each others religions equally and with credible reverence, here it is just as logical and valid for a Hindu to refer to Muhammad or EleguĆ”.Thatās what makes this whole thing such a satisfying fantasy for me and why Iāve been living within this strip for ten years (anniversary coming up in around two weeks) now.Itās my retreat from all of the religious zealousness. So, sorry if anyone is offended.
Canāt expect to cater to every reader ā especially on the internet. The only thing I can point out as an issue is that her being the embodiment of karma interferes with everyone else represented.
I love your strip! The various pantheons are so well represented, and the message of tolerance one we all need.
As a disciple of Yeshua bar Yosef, Messiah Israel, I find intolerance to be anathema, contrary to his teachings. The āus vs.themā teachings of religious organizations is there to keep us ignorant of our personal relationship with God and in bondage to ignorance, injustice and fear.
