Aunt Fritzi seems to have sadistic tendences==at least regarding Nancy.

I have to wonder the same thing as I do regarding Agnes’ grandmother: did Fritzi take custody of her niece just to receive $$$ from the state, supposedly for Nancy’s care?

“You number my wanderings;Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?” (Psalm 56:8)That final panel brought this verse to my mind.

Today’s strip reminds me of The Topper – a UK comic in which I first read Nancy. The Nancy Sunday strips were printed each week in The Topper here in the UK. As well as Nancy, there was a girl called Beryl the Peril in The Topper. Most of Beryl’s weekly strips ended with her being spanked by her Dad who used his slipper to spank her.

Another memorable UK comic from my childhood was Whizzer and Chips. The strips in that comic included Timothy Tester about a boy who was compelled to test everything and this usually created havoc. At the end of a typical strip, there would be a group of people looking for Timothy to spank him. They would be led by Timothy’s Dad with his belt in his hand and his trousers falling down to reveal spotty underpants underneath. Dad’s catchphrase was “Every time I take my belt off to Timothy, my trousers fall down!”
