Heh – I like these two together.

One way to win is by making the others lose, as any professional wrestler could tell you.

Nancy’s up to something here! She may end up writing: “I will not disrupt the lesson” a few times on the blackboard soon.

Who in the world do they have drawing this now? I thought they had gone retro. Sure going to miss how the last artist drew Aunt Fritz.

She’s obviously a minimalist artist; no lavish panels as before. Pretty sad strip now.

Nancy must go to an exclusive school. There are only 5 students in class.

Interesting on a few different levels for me today.

    1. The humor is rather profound and sophisticated. Nancy, as young as she is, is able to realize that she needs to create some sort of distraction to help her and her friend “catch up”.

    2. At first I thought this was the same assignment as yesterday, but I now think this is a different class and a different assignment because (obviously) the teacher is different, but also because Nancy and her friend are on opposite sides of the desk than yesterday. So, I wonder what class this is? Her prior teacher seemed to be math/tech focused. Perhaps this is an English/writing class?

    3. I cannot recall from the Bushmiller era or not…. but did Nancy during that run have a recurring friend that was a girl? It appears this girl may become a frequent character. I like her thus far quite a bit. She should be a good foil for Nancy’s discussions.

    4. Interesting, albeit minor, aside: With it appearing this is group work again…. the one boy in the class that we see appears to be solo at his table (he appears to be in the center of the table). One of the more difficult aspects of group work in schools is that you will often have a situation where there is one student who cannot be paired up…. what is better… to let the kid go solo… or to form a group of three? Neither choice is ideal.

I stand corrected about it NOT being math. I did not look closely enough. But, this has me wonder if the teachers are co-teaching? This is obviously a different teacher today…. but is it a different classroom or the same classroom with two teachers? Because Nancy and her friend are on different sides today, it still has me thinking it is a different classroom… but who knows?

Perhaps Nancy is enrolled in some sort of “magnet” school that has math specialization and therefore she has multiple math classes in a day? :) (just joking around…. not sure how to explain it)
