Not since The Good Place has light entertainment got so deep so fast.

    Sleepy deepy thoughts indeed.

Even though I like this strip more than when Gilchrist was around, it’s still a little sad how far it has departed from the spirit of Bushmiller’s original. Where Gilchrist’s take was sickeningly saccharine and achingly unfunny, the Jaimes version is so wised up and snarky that I can’t imagine any child enjoying (or even understanding) it. As someone already noted, this Nancy has turned into a little “Daria.”

Yanno, if I wanted existential ennui, I could, I dunno, read some Proust or something…

Be careful. I think Sluggo is sneaking in the door to eat your ice cream.

This isn’t any more bleak than Peanuts. And kids are a lot deeper than you give them credit for. I work with several kids who would love this.

I hate how perfectly this comic explains why I still suffer through San Diego Comicon every summer.

Hello, Friends! I’ve really enjoyed the conversations and arguments. Life has been very dull for me for a while (especially the past month), and spending time with you folks and Nancy has been a great way to fill some of the extra time.

As some of you (I guess only two, actually) know, I’ve been a prisoner in my own house for the past month following a full knee replacement. My release came through Friday! Saturday was a full day outside the house, capped off with an Eagles concert. The truth is, having spent over $800 on two tickets several months ago, I was going with or without doctor consent.

I really was hoping for the best with a new Nancy. While is is occasionally amusing, I find it rather pathetic in many ways. Several key elements that made the strip great under all of the previous creators (yes, even G.G.) are missing. I am glad that a lot of people ARE enjoying it. It seems to be accomplishing it’s goal. I suspect that it won’t have a very long run, however, and look forward to the next take on it.

So, this is just a note to tell you that I haven’t lost interest. Just time. I’m booked solid for August and September and will need to get life back in order over the next couple of weeks to get set for the second half of July. Hopefully, I’ll add a short comment now and then, but the long ongoing ramblings are done. Some of you will be relieved, but (apparently) some enjoyed it.

    Cheers!

Still liking the new strip – the look is updated but keeping the basic style. On most days, the strip makes me smile or laugh.

Maybe Thursday could be “Pollyanna Day,” and Nancy could use the day each week to say something ’dorable ’bout angels.

The age old conundrum of wanting and dreaming about freedom and free time…. juxtaposed with the reality of it not being so simple. Very nicely done.

When a person is able to have a sizable chunk of free time such as Nancy’s Summer Vacation… or anytime more than a day or perhaps two…. the free time does IMO feel much, much more valuable and joyful if there are specific plans for things to do, experiences to have, or destinations to reach. When time is left utterly vague and open-ended like Nancy is experiencing… I know that I feel similarly to Nancy does in the above.
