By the way, I was about to go to work in the morning. I put the hand lotion on my hands and watched outside at the same time but somehow, I noticed something what the cat was doing with. I walked closer and was shocked that that stupid cat caught the live parakeet and held it in the cat’s mouth. I opened the patio door immediately and yelled at the cat to let the parakeet go. The cat hissed at me. I yelled loudly and stomped to scare that cat off fast enough. I tried to catch the parakeet but it fluttered akwardly and was so helplessness. I finally caught it but it bit on my finger OUCH! I kept patiently and then, went to the 7-11 convenience store and asked them if they could take care of the injury parakeet till the next door for the animal vet to open next day because, the animal vet was closed on Sunday. Sighhhh! Anyway, the lady ran into the backroom and grabbed the empty box with punching holes. I put the parakeet in the box. Whew! From now on, when I see that stupid cat touching the ground at my porch, I banged the window of the patio door to scare it off and take off quickly. GRRRRRR! Dang that cat!

Cats ain’t got money. My cats own everything in the house.

the 2nd pigeon should then say “Then look NOW!” also, the bread is cheaper than meat, ‘specially day old, cat’s may not own everything, but they act like it, they probably got the money the same place they got the idea to use bait… love the comments!

My cat informs me that cats are hunters and prefer live game to catch. This is the same cat who brought home a snake a few days ago. I did make him give the snake its freedom.

Not easy being a sitting pigeon. Been there, done that.

My cat (I had as a kid) once stalked, chased down, and “killed” a plastic bread wrapper that blew across the yard. She then proudly brought it to us for the expected praise.

I’d like a cat or two around again to chase away the d*mned chipmunks. Or a snake. The squirrel-proof birdfeeder I have uses springs to allow light birds but not heavy squirrels to access the seed. The chipmunks have discovered they are too light to trigger it, and empty a 5-lb feeder in two days. The neighborhood cats, alas, go into the woods and fall victim to the neighborhood coyotes. The circle of life, even in Connecticut.

Cats are wily hunters ya know!

This is the time of year that I run around the yard, catching baby birds and bunnies and putting them back in their nests before I let the cats out.

We built a “cage” over our lettuce so the bunnies wouldn’t eat it – so momma bunny dug under the cage and had the bunnies in the cage – very safe.

One of my cats brought a bird in the house – holding it by the head only – so the bird was flapping like crazy. I simply said “take it back outside and let it go” and she did. The bird flew away.

If the feral cats who come to my garden would prey on the pigeons, I wouldn’t mind at all. I try to chase both away. Unfortunately the cats have killed Gila Mockingbirds (both of a pair who used to visit daily) as well as other small birds (never the big fat pigeons). I chase them if I’m lucky to catch them carrying a bird. Cat owners who just let them out all day to HUNT are criminal IMNHO! I love to feed the birds. Grapes are a good choice for good birds (pigeons don’t eat them); I try to buy under $1/lb.

Dogs treat us like heroes.

Cats treat us like staff.

Maybe the pigeon population will get smarter through natural selection!
