Homer the Reluctant Soul continues. Homer: We escaped into the wolf-infested woods, but it was only a head start, not a permanent solution... Man: It's been a whole day now...shouldn't the slave be back by now? Woman: Yes. Man: Maybe the wolves got him. Woman: Or maybe he ran off with the girl, genius. But I have to admit, it touches a soft spot in my heart... It takes me back to my youth and all the wold, romantic notions that filled my head...I can't help but feel compassion for them. Now go put a bounty on them, dead or alive. Man: Uh...that's compassion? Woman: Hey, I said, "or alive", didn't I? Meanwhile, in the wolf-infested woods... Homer: Well, so far, so good. Never mind. Woman: *sigh* To be frightfully continued.

If push comes to shove, I think I’d prefer the wolves.

The Wolf infested woods? Is that anything like the human infested apartment complexes? Last day of Lupercalia was yesterday. I hope those observant Lupercalians got your wolf action in for the year. Two more weeks before Lent, so those observing Lent need to get your sinning in now.

If there are wolves around…why aren’t they whistling at the girl???

To just about any other living organism in existance humans are an infestation on Earth. The connotation is appropriately derogatory.

Poor wolves. they do NOT deserve their bad rep. They’re more civilized than humans.

Homer’s dog is probably the wolf pack leader by now.

I guess there’s a bridge over the pig-pen wolf trap after all.

Given the nature of this adventure story, I think a more apt comparison would be with Prince Valiant, in which case, this story is moving much faster. It’s all a matter of perspective.

Q4horse, Yeah, I forgot that Dunkcan is out there someplace looking for a wolf pack to join an d being followed by a bunch of sheep….I bet he’s done well for himself…

I like the story line. All the components of a good adventure tale; well told; characters we care about (i.e., some we care about getting eaten by wolves, some we care about NOT getting eaten by wolves;) parallel story lines, all with an ending we know….sort of. Carry on!

I knew a guy once – he went up to the top of a 50 story building in Houston and jumped off. Now that is a long way to fall with a hard ending, but, as he passed each floor, people heard him say, “So far, so good… so far, so good.”
