Looks like it’s from Where’s Waldo, by Martin Handford, a ‘look for the clues’ travel series much like the late and unlamented by me at least Pokemon Go game.
If I were an actual Waldo, I think I’d be hiding out in a comfortable bar, too.
Last time I ever ‘saw’ Waldo, he was hidden in a mass of people on a coffee cup. He showed up when you put something hot in the cup. Maybe if the bartender threw something hot on him here? Ya think??
I’m thinking not many here have spent much time in a real neighborhood bar. There’s always a few guys that forget to go home when they should. That’s when the missus calls. The bartender tends to cover for his patrons telling her that ’he’s not here’ or ‘he just left.’ Occasionally, they get busted by a wife with a cell phone standing outside….
Never been there, but have driven by a bar actually named: He’s Not Here. I’m guessing they answer their phone, "He’s not here….’
Reminds me of a bartender, who, while he wouldn’t outright lie for you, would give you a pretty close second, for the old: " If that call’s for me….I’m not here " customer’s plea.
He would turn his back to the customer and say to the caller " Mr. Linguist ? No…. I don’t see him at the moment…but when I see him. I’ll be happy to give him your message. "

He’s a lot bigger now, how would you spot him?….He was a skinny dude…Besides, the bartender may not have “Read” the books….

That bartender earned a lot of tips, by the way.
